According to recent reports, the Dolphins have a deal for the linebacker but there hasn't been any "common ground" on contract talks. Miami wants the pass rusher back with the team but any talks of that happening haven't been gaining traction this offseason. Originally selected in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the former Oklahoma State product was cut by the team last February but eventually re-signed a new deal a few months later and now it's a different story this offseason.

Ogbah has the opportunity to test the waters despite being in a starting role last year in place of Shaq Barrett who abruptly made his retirement decision. The pass rusher reuniting with the Miami Dolphins allowed him to post five sacks and 19 pressures in his 2024 campaign which will help his market for any teams that may take a look at him. If it's taking this long to strike a deal, the Dolphins should probably let Ogbah walk in free agency to see what's out there. After drafting Chop Robinson and having Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips, the Dolphins have enough talent to execute a dependable defense so this means Ogbah will likely seek other opportunities.

"No Deal Imminent" for Dolphins Veteran Free Agent Emmanuel Ogbah? - 3 Suitors Could Intervene

Possible Next Teams

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs found a way to extend Nick Bolton in a crucial free agency re-signing. Kansas City's defense has a lot of upside but as the team is getting other, it's better to build upon that. Emmanuel Ogbah could be a capable pass rusher for this unit since the Chiefs haven't brought back Josh Uche despite trading for him last year. Ogbah may be aging but it doesn't mean the Chiefs shouldn't sign him.

The team doesn't have plenty of cap space to work with and while Chris Jones is one of the best defensive tackles, the defensive pass rush needs more balance. Ogbah is slowing down but a reunion makes sense since he has the experience to bolster the Chiefs for another Super Bowl run.

Baltimore Ravens

Meanwhile, a signing with the Baltimore Ravens makes a little more sense. Trenton Simpson had huge shoes to fill for the loss of veteran Jadeveon Clowney and he hasn't been successful in doing that this past year. Simpson is still learning and while he does that, the team signing Ogbah on a one-year deal makes sense for both sides who want to win. Kyle Van Noy and Odafe Oweh have been struggling to make up for Simpson not producing on the field. The Ravens were able to bring out the best in Clowney and the same could be said about Ogbah.

Los Angeles Chargers

Nobody loves playing a hard physical football game than head coach Jim Harbaugh. Khalil Mack is returning for one more season but since cutting Joey Bosa, they need a replacement. Ogbah isn't the fastest but this new duo could help the Chargers back in the AFC Championship Game.

REPORT: Dolphins Wants To Bring Back Hall of Famer Free Agent – 5 Teams Likely to Intervene https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/03/16/report-dolphins-wants-to-bring-back-hall-of-famer-free-agent-calais-campbell-5-teams-likely-to-intervene/ https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/03/16/report-dolphins-wants-to-bring-back-hall-of-famer-free-agent-calais-campbell-5-teams-likely-to-intervene/#respond Sun, 16 Mar 2025 16:30:30 +0000 https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/?p=223002 The Miami Dolphins are in dire need of a defensive lineman and they want free agent Calais Campbell to return to the team this offseason. According to a report, the Dolphins want Campbell while the team hasn't made any significant changes to their defensive line. This means they "really want" the future Hall of Famer back for what could be his last season in the league. However, the Dolphins were open to letting Campbell join another team last year if Miami didn't make the playoffs but it didn't happen that way.

Originally selected in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft, the former Miami product is one of the league's oldest defensive linemen. Through 17 years of play, he put up 110.5 sacks, 917 tackles, six Pro Bowls and one first-team All-Pro. Campbell has been a fan favorite on every team he has ever gone to but the veteran will have options and at this stage of his career, it might be safe to sign with a team that's a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Last season, he's already been proving to other teams he still has at least one more season in him so it shouldn't be surprising if he decides to sign elsewhere since he's not getting any younger. Campbell might not be in his prime anymore but the veteran could have one last chance with these five teams.

REPORT: Dolphins Wants To Bring Back Hall of Famer Free Agent Calais Campbell - 5 Teams Likely to Intervene

Potential Destinations

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are not too far from becoming Super Bowl champions one day as they missed the AFC Championship Game since facing off the Chiefs in 2024. However, the team had to sustain a different look on defense after losing veteran Jadeveon Clowney in the trenches. Nnamdi Madubuike is still playing at a high level and if the Ravens want to continue seeing that from him, they need more experience on that defensive line. Campbell might have slowed down but he's a significant upgrade over Travis Jones and Broderick Washington.

Los Angeles Chargers

Last year, the Chargers made promising strides in making it to the wild card in head coach Jim Harbaugh's first year back in the NFL. It's time for the team to turn the page and heat up its defensive trenches and they haven't made many changes. Teair Tart is coming back on another one-year deal but losing Poona Ford could come as a loss for the Chargers. The team will probably need a veteran like Campbell to see the best out of Tart again and keep the entire unit intact

Dallas Cowboys

Surprisingly, the Cowboys don't look too shabby with the bargain moves they made this offseason. Jack Sanborn, Dante Fowler Jr. and Osa Odighizuwa returning will be crucial for the success of this pass rush. However, they could use the presence of Campbell as a rotational man as long as the Cowboys give Micah Parsons a contract extension soon.

Kansas City Chiefs

For the Chiefs, George Karlaftis has yet to be special in this unit while he does have his moments, he needs additional help up front. Defensive Tackle Chris Jones is one of the league's best defensive linemen but if they want to see more firepower, they need more depth. Campbell could sign a one-year with Kansas City to finally get his ring in the Patrick Mahomes era.

Washington Commanders

If anyone in this league is in the best position. it's the Washington Commanders. Despite losing Fowler, the team got a lot of talent on the defensive upfront after signing Javon Kinlaw and a few depth guys. However, they could use Campbell as a crown jewel piece to guide them to their first Super Bowl in more than a decade.

Dodson, a former undrafted free agent, spent the 2024 season with the Miami Dolphins and Seattle Seahawks but has also played for the Buffalo Bills.

Tyrel Dodson, Miami Dolphins, Agree to Contract

Even though he played on two different teams, the 2024 season was the best statistical season of Dodson’s career. Staring the year with the Seattle Seahawks, Dodson recorded two sacks, 71 tackles, five tackles-for-loss, and three quarterback hits through the first nine games. At the time, he was Seattle’s leading tackler and appeared to be a key piece for a team fighting for a playoff spot.

However, the Seahawks surprisingly cut him midway through the season. The former undrafted free agent landed with the Miami Dolphins and recorded 36 tackles and one quarterback hit over the final eight games of the regular season. While he played well, it wasn’t enough to put the team in the playoffs. Throughout the course of the season, Dodson recorded 107 tackles.

Tyrel Dodson originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent following the 2019 NFL Draft. After failing to appear in a regular season game as a true rookie, the Texas A&M product made his professional debut in 2020 with the Buffalo Bills. Appearing in 10 games while making two starts, Dodson recorded one sack, 22 tackles, and two tackles-for-loss while playing a backup role. With his help, Buffalo made it to the AFC Championship but ultimately lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.

After playing a similar role in 2021 and 2022, Dodson finally had the opportunity to prove himself in 2023. Playing a key role in the defense, the former undrafted free agent recorded 2.5 sacks, 74 tackles, eight tackles-for-loss, and six quarterback hits.

Since signing his rookie contract, Tyrel Dodson has appeared in 76 games while making 27 starts. While on the field, the linebacker has recorded 6.5 sacks, 250 tackles, 16 tackles-for-loss, and 11 quarterback hits.

BREAKING: Top Remaining Free Agent Signs Contract With New York Giants https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/03/11/jevon-holland-signs-contract-new-york-giants/ https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/03/11/jevon-holland-signs-contract-new-york-giants/#respond Tue, 11 Mar 2025 12:04:48 +0000 https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/?p=212762 Four-year veteran safety Javon Holland signed a new contract with the New York Giants. Holland, a former second-round pick, spent the entirety of his career with the Miami Dolphins.

Jevon Holland, New York Giants, Agree to Contract

Jevon Holland is coming off another strong season leading the Miami Dolphins secondary. Starting and appearing in 15 games, the former second-round pick finished the season with four passes defended, one forced fumble, one sack, 62 tackles, two tackles-f0r-loss, two quarterback hits, and a 63.0 PFF grade, the 57th-best mark of 98 eligible players. Despite his reliable play, the Miami Dolphins missed the playoffs, thanks in large part to Tua Tagovailoa's concussions.

Hollard originally entered the league as a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Selected by the Miami Dolphins, the Oregon product immediately made a name for himself as one of the league's better safeties. Starting in 13 games while appearing in 16, the rookie finished his inaugural season with two interceptions, three fumble recoveries, 2.5 sacks, 69 tackles, three tackles-for-loss, seven quarterback hits, and an 84.7 PFF grade, the fourth-best mark of 92 eligible players.

Mike McDaniel took over the Miami Dolphins in 2022 and Holland struggled to adapt to the new defensive scheme. While he started all 17 games, he wasn't quite as productive as he was under former head coach Brian Flores. While on the field, the defensive back recorded two interceptions, 1.5 sacks, 96 tackles, one tackle-for-loss, one quarterback hit, and a 67.2 PFF grade, the 40th-best mark of 88 eligible players. Fortunately, he bounced back in 2023, finishing the year with an elite 90.4 PFF grade, the third-best ranking in the league.

Since signing his rookie contract, Jevon Holland has appeared in 60 games while making 57 starts. While on the field, the former second-round pick has recorded five interceptions, 25 passes defended, five forced fumbles, five sacks, 301 tackles, nine tackles-for-loss, and 10 quarterback hits. The Oregon product is still looking for his first playoff win.

James Daniels, Miami Dolphins, Agree to Contract

The 2024 season was one to forget for James Daniels, as a torn Achilles limited him to just four games. Still, he played remarkably well when on the field, recording a 92.9 PFF grade in his limited sample. The Pittsburgh Steelers went 10-7 in his absence, although they finished the season on a low note by losing their final five games and going one-and-done in the Wild Card round to the Baltimore Ravens.

James Daniels originally entered the league as a second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Selected by the Chicago Bears, the Iowa product started his career on the bench but eventually earned a starting job midway through the season. Starting in 10 games, the rookie finished his inaugural season with a solid 68.7 PFF grade, the 20th-best mark out of 77 eligible players. With his help, Chicago made it to the NFC Divisional Round but couldn't advance after a last-second missed field goal.

James Daniels maintained his starting job in 2019 and remained in the role throughout the duration of his rookie contract. The lone exception was in 2020 when injuries limited him to just five games, but he reclaimed a starting spot on the offensive line in 2021. Following the expiration of his rookie deal, Daniels took his talents to Pittsburgh. Responsible for blocking old friend Mitchell Trubisky and rookie Kenny Pickett, Daniels finished his first season in Pittsburgh with a 66.9 PFF grade, the 24th-best mark out of 77 eligible players.

Since signing his rookie contract, James Daniels has appeared in 90 games while making 84 starts. While he has made the playoff on multiple occasions, he is still looking for his first postseason win.

Starting and appearing in 13 games, the veteran finished the season with a 3-10 record while completing 55.6% of his passes for 2,334 yards, nine touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

Wilson maintained the starting job in 2022 but didn't hold onto it before the entire season. Starting in nine games, the Jets went 5-4 with Wilson under center, but they weren't successful because of him. The quarterback completed just 54.5% of his passes for 1,688 yards, six touchdowns, and seven interceptions and was ultimately benched for backup Mike White.

The New York Jets acquired four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers ahead of the 2023 season and planned on keeping Wilson on the bench. That plan went up in flames after four snaps, as Rodgers tore his Achilles and forced Wilson into action. The quarterback still struggled, going 4-7 in 11 starts while completing 60.1% of his passes for 2,271 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

Since signing his rookie contract, Zach Wilson has appeared in 34 games while making 33 starts. While on the field, the BYU product has completed 57.0% of his passes for 6,293 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions.

Zach Wilson, Miami Dolphins, Agree to Contract

After spending his first three seasons as the primary starting quarterback for the New York Jets, Wilson spent the 2024 season with the Denver Broncos. Serving as a depth option behind first-round rookie Bo Nix and veteran Jarrett Stidham, Wilson never saw the field. Despite his absence, the team made it to the playoffs but lost in the Wild Card round to the Buffalo Bills.

“Lingering” Worries Could Lead Miami Dolphins to Trade All-Pro https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/02/26/worries-could-lead-dolphins-trade-tyreek-hill/ https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/02/26/worries-could-lead-dolphins-trade-tyreek-hill/#respond Wed, 26 Feb 2025 19:00:57 +0000 https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/?p=219474 The Miami Dolphins have endured trade rumors surrounding star wide receiver Tyreek Hill for months, and they're not going away any time soon. Originally acquired in the 2022 offseason, Hill helped turn first-round pick Tua Tagovailoa into the future of the Miami Dolphins, but his off-field antics combined with a drop in productivity may lead to an early departure. Rumors of Hill's unhappiness occurred throughout the season but reached a boiling point when he took himself out of the regular season finale and demanded a trade following their season-ending loss.

While Hill has since apologized for his comments and appears content to return to Miami, the feeling may not be mutual. While a trade isn't imminent, NFL.com's Cameron Wolfe recently noted the Dolphins are listening to trade offers for Tyreek Hill and "are not 100% certain" they won't send him off during the offseason.

Report: Dolphins Still Considering A Tyreek Hill Trade

The Dolphins knew Tyreek Hill came with off-field headaches when they decided to trade for him three years ago. However, at the time, Hill was arguably the game's most dangerous wide receiver, and his on-field play easily justified the off-field distractions. However, that might not be the case anymore. While he's still a good football player, he finished the 2024 season with just 81 receptions for 959 yards and six touchdowns and missed the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career.

A borderline 1,000-yard receiver is still a valuable weapon in today's NFL, but the Dolphins won't hesitate to trade Tyreek Hill if someone makes a big enough offer. With former first-round pick Jaylen Waddle capable of being a legitimate WR1, Miami could send the one-time Super Bowl champion to a new home. In no particular order, the following three teams make the most sense as a potential destination.

Possible Destinations

Kansas City Chiefs

If any team knows how to deal with Tryeek Hill, it's the Kansas City Chiefs. While he had his best numbers with Miami, Hill originally established himself as one of the league's premier talents under head coach Andy Reid. While they ultimately sent Hill to the Miami Dolphins, the wide receiver didn't burn any bridges on his way out of town. The Chiefs have a promising young speedster in first-round pick Xavier Worthy, but they could use a proven veteran like Hill given the uncertainty surrounding Rashee Rice.

Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders made it to the NFC Championship Game with a rookie quarterback, a first-year head coach, and a roster that went 4-13 one year earlier. The sky is the limit for this organization, and the time is now to go all-in on the future. Terry McLaurin is still a great wide receiver, but he can't carry the entire passing offense by himself. The Dolphins would probably prefer to trade Tyreek Hill to an NFC team like the Commanders, and the veteran could give budding superstar Jayden Daniels one of the best receiver duos in football.

Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers should focus most of their resources on the defensive side of the ball, but they shouldn't completely ignore the offense. While youngsters Xavier Legette, Jalen Coker, and tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders all showed promise as rookies, none of them are guaranteed superstars. With Adam Thielen slowing down, Hill could provide Bryce Young with a proven target who can still stretch the defense and make a difference in a weak NFC South.

REPORT: Dolphins Have “Moved On” From Top Free Agent https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/02/23/report-dolphins-have-moved-on-from-jevon-holland-free-agent/ https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/02/23/report-dolphins-have-moved-on-from-jevon-holland-free-agent/#respond Sun, 23 Feb 2025 19:00:02 +0000 https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/?p=218764 Miami Dolphins safety Jevon Holland is one of the best free agents set to reach the open market, and the former second-round pick believes he will not return in 2025. Selected out of Oregon, Holland has been one of the league's better safeties, finishing his rookie season with an 84.7 PFF grade and 2023 with an elite 90.4 mark. Despite this impressive play, the team will not use the franchise tag on him, and Holland's latest comments outright state the team won't re-sign him as a free agent.

"Transparency, seeing the Dolphins post things like the Valentine's Day stuff or like any kind of edit and things like that," Holland said on the Breaking House Rules podcast. "You can see guys that may not be here next year or may be somewhere else are just not in it. I'm following them on Instagram, right? And I'm in none of this [expletive] no more. I'm like, ok, they've kinda moved on."

Report: Dolphins Have "Moved On" From Jevon Holland

In a vacuum, reading into social media posts might not be the wisest idea, as Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel are not the ones sending those posts. However, Jevon Holland would know if the Dolphins have been active in contract talks, and his latest comments suggest Miami's front office has not made a serious effort to extend their homegrown talent.

Armed with only $1.5 million in cap space, the Miami Dolphins might be aware they don't have the money to extend Jevon Holland. While safeties historically don't earn the same payday as positions like wide receiver or offensive tackle, elite options like Holland still earn sizable deals. If Miami has already accepted the inevitable, Holland could leave for any of the following teams.

Possible Fits

Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals should be one of the most fascinating teams of the offseason. Currently armed with nearly $62 million in cap space, the Bengals theoretically have the financial liberty to steal Jevon Holland from the Dolphins and address other needs on the roster. However, they'll lose $26.3 million when they place the franchise tag on Tee Higgins, and they must work out an extension for star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson.

Cincinnati's defense was one of the worst in the league last year, and free agent signee Geno Stone had a disastrous first year away from the Baltimore Ravens. This team needs more help in the secondary, but only time will tell if they can afford to bring in a big-name free agent like Holland without sacrificing their ability to retain Higgins and Hendrickson while setting aside money aside for the inevitable Ja'Marr Chase extension.

Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers offense is in good shape, as quarterback Bryce Young showed signs of life behind a competent offensive line and with adequate playmakers. However, he won't be able to win games without a dramatic improvement on the other side of the ball. Carolina ranked at or near the bottom of almost every defensive metric last year, and the team must do something to support their young quarterback in 2025. Signing Jevon Holland away from the Dolphins and pairing him with Pro Bowler Jaycee Horn and (hopefully) Mike Jackson will give the Panthers three quality starters in the secondary.

Minnesota Vikings

Brian Flores drafted Jevon Holland when he was head coach of the Miami Dolphins, so it only makes sense to reunite in Minnesota. Harrison Smith may be retiring, but even if he returns for another season, he's not getting any younger. With no other high-upside starters at safety, Holland should thrive under Flores and could become the face of Minnesota's defense for the next 5-10 years.

According to several reports, the safety sets himself up as one of the top free agents in the market despite the Dolphins having a disastrous 2024 campaign. The Dolphins already began cleaning up cap space by releasing Raheem Mostert and Kendall Fuller to give them relief since they'll be over just $5.4 million for 2025. There wasn't a chance Miami could afford to bring him back so it's easier to let him walk and possibly earn himself a big payday with another team.

Originally selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the former Oregon product has blossomed to play anywhere in the secondary unit. He has a special playmaking ability and that was evident after posting five interceptions, five sacks and five forced fumbles so it's clear he has a lot of years ahead of him. Holland made a lot of splash plays for the Dolphins after Pro Football Focus had him as one of the top 5 safeties in the league in 2021 and 2023. With the next right scenery, it should not be surprising if he winds up making an impact for another team like a contender.

Dolphins Star Free Agent Jevon Holland Not Expected to Receive Franchise Tag - Should Have Explosive Market

Next Possible Teams

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs don't have the financial liberty to improve their defense with superstar talent. However, since they'll most likely let Justin Reid walk in free agency, they will have to find a replacement. The safety department is different from the cornerback unit so they need depth either way since Reid will likely land a massive contract elsewhere. After trading L'Jarius Sneed, the pass secondary had a few miscues and a guy like Holland could give some relief alongside Bryan Cook.

Baltimore Ravens

After agreeing to restructure Marcus Williams' contract, they will likely release him. With that, he had one of the most disastrous seasons since getting benched in favor of Ar'Darius Washington. Kyle Hamilton is eligible for an extension but they could pull off signing Holland at a reliable price to pair with him for next season.

Los Angeles Chargers

The pass secondary was one of the most successful for the Los Angeles Chargers but it wasn't enough to get past the wild-card round. However, they have several secondary free agents like Marcus Maye, Derwin James and Kristian Fulton. The Chargers will at least re-sign one of them while they probably find another safety to pair with Alohi Gilman. With that, the good news is that Los Angeles has money to burn and could give Holland a phenomenal deal.

Washington Commanders

The Commanders had a fiery performance with their wide receiver department but that can't be said about the secondary. They had their moments with Benjamin St-Juste but he will become a free agent alongside Marshon Lattimore after the team just brought him in from a trade to boost their postseason chances. However, they should focus on rebuilding their secondary since it needs some work and Holland is the perfect replacement since Jeremy Chinn will hit the market too.

New Orleans Saints

As for the Saints, it's hard if any superstar signing will happen for them since they're in cap hell for a second straight season. However, veteran safety Tyrann Mathieu has an uncertain future so the team should be in the market for an immediate replacement. Holland might not be on the same level but he's easily the fastest one since he's much younger.
