The Buffalo Bills rewarded his continued ascent with a six-year, $330 million contract extension. So, as crazy as the question may sound, is now the time to put Allen on the trade block in dynasty fantasy football leagues?

Josh Allen Dynasty Outlook (2025 Fantasy Football)

Bills Superstar's Current Production

No player can match Allen's combination of high-end production and consistency. He's recorded at least 40 total touchdowns in five straight seasons, which is an NFL record, and his 117 straight starts is the longest active streak among quarterbacks.

Here's a look at his overall numbers from 2024:

  • Passing: 63.6 percent completion rate, 3,731 yards, 28 touchdowns and 6 interceptions
  • Rushing: 102 carries for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns

Translated to fantasy numbers, Allen ranked second among players in total points (385) behind only the Baltimore Ravens' Lamar Jackson in standard leagues, per FantasyPros.

https://twitter.com/i/status/1884430554524721348

None of this is a surprise, of course. The 28-year-old California native has established himself as an elite quarterback in both the real and fantasy worlds. You had to pay a premium to get him if you've drafted your dynasty league at any point since 2020.

The question is whether a dual-threat quarterback will be able to maintain that high level of play. He's coming off a campaign where he battled various injuries, including a wrist injury suffered during the team's playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

"Get away, let the body heal," Allen told reporters at season's end. "Got bumps and bruises from last night, took a few shots. Just trying to make sure that my body's in as good as condition as it can be given maybe a week or two and just kind of getting back to work."

The three-time Pro Bowler takes far more hits than the average signal-caller, and those tend to take a cumulative tool over the years.

Josh Allen Dynasty Price

Allen is the No. 1 quarterback and the No. 11 overall player in dynasty leagues, according to the ranking website KeepTradeCut. His value score is 7914—Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson paces the metric at 9999—and he's 400 points above the next quarterback, Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders.

Josh Allen Dynasty Outlook After MVP Season

Allen is going to remain a top-tier quarterback for the next handful of years. While there's virtually no doubt about that, his long-term outlook is a little more murky.

https://twitter.com/i/status/1902028189473652931

The University of Wyoming product isn't afraid of trying to take on contact. Yes, the Bills have successfully coached some of that out of him in recent years, but he's always going to want the ball in his hands in close games, even if that means taking extra hits.

All of the damage he's taken over his first seven NFL seasons is going to catch up with him eventually. He's not a pure pocket passer like Tom Brady, who remained productive into his 40s. He'd be wise to start adapting his style of play more in that direction if he does want to play for another decade-plus, though.

Meanwhile, the Bills have been adamant about building a more balanced offense. It's an effort buoyed by the strong play of running back James Cook in recent years. Check out Allen's passing attempts by season since throwing the ball a career-high number of times in 2021:

  • 2021: 646
  • 2022: 567
  • 2023: 579
  • 2024: 483

Those numbers are not trending in the right direction from a fantasy perspective. Allen's legs have allowed him to remain valuable, but there are reasons for concern buried beneath the surface.

What To Do With Bills Quarterback in Dynasty Leagues

This is the perfect offseason to see if anyone is willing to overpay for Allen in a trade. That doesn't mean you absolutely have to move him. At worst, you keep a quarterback who should once again be the top scorers in fantasy football in 2025.

Yet, considering positional scarcity and Allen's injury-filled 2024, now's the time to see whether he could be flipped for a couple of young wide receivers. Or perhaps you could package Allen and a wide receiver to land someone like the New York Giants' Malik Nabers.

Fantasy football is all about selling high and buying low. That's the only path to sustained, long-term success. If you have a championship roster now, maintaining the status quo may keep your title window open for a few years, but eventually, a rebuild will be inevitable.

https://twitter.com/i/status/1887929104063939000

On the other hand, while there's an obvious risk with constantly trying to trade players at peak value, the upside is staying in the title picture indefinitely. Move superstars before their decline arrives.

Allen will probably never have more trade value than he does right now. In turn, dynasty managers are doing themselves a disservice if they aren't at least considering offers. Throw the quarterback on the trade block and see if anyone tosses out an insane proposal.

If not, lock him in as your QB1 again in 2025 and see what the next offseason holds.

BREAKING: Bills All-Pro Star Takes Paycut, May Signal Trade? – 5 Possible Fits https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/03/18/breaking-bills-all-pro-star-matt-milano-takes-paycut-may-signal-trade-5-possible-fits/ https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/03/18/breaking-bills-all-pro-star-matt-milano-takes-paycut-may-signal-trade-5-possible-fits/#respond Tue, 18 Mar 2025 22:14:35 +0000 https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/?p=223409 The Buffalo Bills star linebacker Matt Milano will take a paycut to no surprise after taking up most of the team's cap space. According to reports, the team is fixing up Milano's contract after missing some time the past two seasons as he enters what could be his last season with the Bills. Originally selected in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the former Boston College product is heading for free agency but the team might want to consider trading him if they don't see any future in him anymore. Since Milano hasn't been able to stay healthy, it doesn't make sense for the Bills to keep him around and they should consider the choice of sending him to a team for a fresh start.

This 2025 season will determine his future with the Buffalo Bills and if he doesn't perform up to standards, the team will likely let him test free agency. However, it shouldn't be surprising if they put him on the trade block before the beginning of the season to see if they could get something in return for his services. When healthy, the veteran linebacker has proven he could be a vital edge rusher while recording at least 78 total tackles in a season four times and 10 interceptions in his entire career. The linebacker is in his last year so another team could take a chance on him for one season to determine if he's worth the long-term risk and these five suitors could do that.

BREAKING: Bills All-Pro Star Matt Milano Takes Paycut, May Signal Trade? - 5 Possible Fits

Potential Destinations

Los Angeles Chargers

After releasing Joey Bosa, the Los Angeles Chargers need a capable veteran linebacker to pair with Khalil Mack. While they will probably draft a linebacker in this year's draft, there's no guarantee whoever they pick will be ready for full-time duties. Matt Milano could revive this pass-rushing unit which was at their peak last season. As long as he stays healthy, he could fulfill the wishes of Jim Harbaugh's philosophy of winning football games with a physical defense.

Washington Commanders

This trade would be a dream come true for the head coach Dan Quinn and the Washington Commanders. Last offseason, they brought in Bobby Wagner on a one-year and made promising strides where he's returning again. Even though Dante Fowler Jr. is leaving, they have a bolstering weapon in Frankie Luvu. Milano and Luvu could pair up in the middle to stop the passes in the aerial and it could work out since both linebackers are ball-hawkers.

Baltimore Ravens

The same ball-hawking mindset could apply to the Baltimore Ravens too. Kyle Van Noy is entering the final year of his contract and Milano could be a worthwhile replacement. Milano won't be on the same level as him but it keeps the Ravens competitive if only he becomes a free agent next offseason since the Bills probably won't trade to their AFC rival.

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints probably have one most promising linebacker units in the league. Pete Werner and Willie Gay along with Demario Davis are three formidable starters. However, Davis aging so they might need someone like Milano for a rotational basis in the defense.

Dallas Cowboys

Meanwhile, the Cowboys don't need a linebacker but they could have someone in the middle if Eric Kendricks doesn't return. Dallas has yet to extend Micah Parsons but if they do that, they're in good hands with Dante Fowler Jr. and Jack Sanborn. Milano won't start but he could be an effective option when the defense plays zone under Matt Eberflus.

Bills Rumors: Buffalo Must Avoid Stefon Diggs Free-Agent Reunion https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/03/18/bills-rumors-buffalo-avoid-stefon-diggs-reunion-2025-nfl-free-agency/ https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/03/18/bills-rumors-buffalo-avoid-stefon-diggs-reunion-2025-nfl-free-agency/#respond Tue, 18 Mar 2025 19:22:57 +0000 https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/?p=223348 The Buffalo Bills have been busy in free agency, but they're still in the market for another wide receiver ahead of the 2025 NFL season. Yet, it still came as a surprise to many in Bills Mafia when Stefon Diggs emerged as part of that discussion this week.

Let's be clear: none of the league's main insiders have linked Diggs to the Bills so far. Instead, people are reading between the lines to see whether it's possible the four-time Pro Bowler could be returning for a second stint in Orchard Park. Dan Mitchell of Roundtable Sports provided a breakdown of the rumors and speculation:

https://twitter.com/realdanmitchell/status/1901415844652982424

It's generated a lot of conversation about whether general manager Brandon Beane should consider a reunion as Buffalo attempts to hunt down the franchise's first Super Bowl title.

Bills, Stefon Diggs No Longer A Free-Agent Match

Diggs' Success in Buffalo

The sour end to Diggs' first stint with the Bills shouldn't totally overshadow his successes. Here's a look at the 31-year-old Maryland native's stat line from each of his four seasons in Buffalo:

  • 2020: 127 catches for 1,535 yards and 8 touchdowns
  • 2021: 103 catches for 1,225 yards and 10 touchdowns
  • 2022: 108 catches for 1,429 yards and 11 touchdowns
  • 2023: 107 catches for 1,183 yards and 8 touchdowns

Those are elite numbers from start to finish. Even his final season, which saw some obvious physical decline, was highly productive. He's never been a receiver who was overly dependent on speed to create separation, which helped him age a little more gracefully.

It's also important to remember Diggs didn't show up to Buffalo when quarterback Josh Allen was already an MVP-level talent. In 2020, the signal-caller was still working to establish himself as the face of the franchise. He'd endured a pair of up-and-down seasons to open his NFL career.

https://twitter.com/PayTheBillsPod/status/1901251803263471900

Diggs' arrival came at a time when Allen needed a true No. 1 receiver. It was a match made in heaven, especially for the first few years. The quarterback had his go-to target and the wideout had seemingly left his antics with the Minnesota Vikings.

In fact, for a while it seemed like the 2020 First Team All-Pro selection would end his career in Buffalo.

Allen-Diggs Relationship Fades

Things began to change at the end of the 2022 season, though. The Bills' offense came out flat in a 27-10 home playoff loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Cameras caught Diggs having an animated one-way conversation with his quarterback:

https://twitter.com/NFLonCBS/status/1617294279306526721

Although it wasn't set in stone at that moment, it became clear over time that snapshot was the beginning of the end for Diggs in Buffalo. He returned in 2023 but the upbeat vibes were gone. His interactions with Allen lacked the enthusiasm and mutual admiration of previous seasons.

The Bills slowly started to evolve the offense in new directions. That became another blatant clue they were preparing to move on. The outspoken receiver finished with just three catches for 21 yards in his final game with the team, a 27-24 playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Sure enough, Beane traded Diggs and a pair of late-round draft picks to the Houston Texans last April in exchange for a second-round selection in the 2025 draft.

Bills Don't Need What Diggs Provides

While the current nature of the Allen-Diggs friendship is uncertain, an on-field reunion doesn't make a lot of sense for anybody involved.

The Bills have already built a well-rounded receiver corps. They have four wideouts (Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer and Curtis Samuel) along with two tight ends (Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox) who will be fighting for targets in 2025. The "everybody eats" mentality is here to stay.

Buffalo has a niche need at the position: a speedy vertical threat. Someone who can stretch the field and keep opposing secondaries honest. The snap count for that role will be modest.

Meanwhile, Diggs suffered a torn ACL in late October. That's a major concern for a player who was already dealing with physical decline as he passed the age-30 barrier. It's also why a playmaker with his track record remains on the free-agent market.

https://twitter.com/DaveMyersBIB/status/1901675950145929689

The University of Maryland product will likely have to sign an incentive-laden, one-year contract to prove he can still be an impact player. In turn, he'll assuredly prefer a team where he'll see a healthy target share. Production matters if he's hitting free agency again next offseason.

That's just the on-field fit, too. It's also fair to question whether bringing him back in the locker room could create unnecessary distractions given his departure from Buffalo a year ago. That's the last thing the Bills need at this stage of their championship chase.

So, while the speculation created some intrigue about a potential comeback, it's quite clear that path is not one either side should be interested in traveling.

“Done” – Reason Why Top Free Agent Remains Unsigned Revealed https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/03/17/amari-cooper-free-agent-unsigned-matthew-berry/ https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/03/17/amari-cooper-free-agent-unsigned-matthew-berry/#respond Mon, 17 Mar 2025 13:15:20 +0000 https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/?p=223157 The legal tampering period began one week ago, and wide receiver Amari Cooper is still a free agent. Starting the 2024 season with Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns, Cooper joined Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills midway through the 2024 season. Despite the massive upgrade in quarterback play, the five-time Pro Bowler finished the season with 44 receptions for 547 yards and four touchdowns between the two teams - a stark decrease from when he recorded over 1,200 yards in 2023.

Cooper played through a wrist injury in the back half of the season, but that might not be why he hasn't found a job. According to Matthew Berry of NBC Sports, one of Cooper's former coaches said the wide receiver is "done" and has no gas left in his tank. The end always comes quickly for wide receivers, and Amari Cooper is a free agent entering his age-31 season.

https://twitter.com/MatthewBerryTMR/status/1900549842448904523

While Cooper won't earn a massive payday on the open market, some team should roll the dice on the free agent. There aren't enough good wide receivers to go around, and the following four teams could take a risk on Cooper bouncing back now that he's fully recovered from his wrist injury.

"Amari Cooper Is Done" - Analyst Shares Why Free Agent Isn't Drawing Interest

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots will be better in 2025 now that they've replaced Jerod Mayo with Mike Vrabel and spent big on the defensive side of the ball. However, they haven't done nearly enough to support franchise quarterback Drake Maye. While right tackle Morgan Moses will solidify a position of need, New England needs at least three more starters on the offensive line and two more competent wide receivers. Amari Cooper might not be the safest bet due to his disappointing 2025, but the free agent has the potential to be the best wide receiver on this roster.

New Orleans Saints

Even with a new head coach, the New Orleans Saints are still restructuring contracts and pushing off their inevitable rebuild. Derek Carr will return for another season, and while he's good enough to beat bad teams, he cannot beat legitimate contenders with this flawed roster. Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed are a solid duo, but they could use another set of hands. Carr and Cooper have history from their shared time with the Raiders, so perhaps a reunion could bring out the best in the former first-round pick.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers went one-and-done in the playoffs largely because their offensive weapons couldn't compensate when Justin Herbert wasn't playing his best football. Despite this, Jim Harbaugh and company have done next to nothing to improve the pass-catching options. Aside from bringing in a washed-up Mike Williams, the Chargers will largely send out the same group of playmakers in 2025. Amari Cooper might not be as exciting as the Tee Higgins rumors earlier in the offseason, but the free agent can fight with Williams and Quentin Johnston for the second spot in this passing attack.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver room is a bit of a mess. While Marquise Brown will return for another season, Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy could miss time to suspensions. Even if both players return, Worthy wasn't consistent last year and Rice is returning from a season-ending injury. With Travis Kelce also slowing down, this team could use a veteran free agent like Amari Cooper to add some stability to the position.

The legal tampering period began one week ago, and wide receiver Amari Cooper is still a free agent. Starting the 2024 season with Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns, Cooper joined Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills midway through the 2024 season. Despite the massive upgrade in quarterback play, the five-time Pro Bowler finished the season with 44 receptions for 547 yards and four touchdowns between the two teams – a stark decrease from when he recorded over 1,200 yards in 2023.

Cooper played through a wrist injury in the back half of the season, but that might not be why he hasn’t found a job. According to Matthew Berry of NBC Sports, one of Cooper’s former coaches said the wide receiver is “done” and has no gas left in his tank. The end always comes quickly for wide receivers, and Amari Cooper is a free agent entering his age-31 season.

While Cooper won’t earn a massive payday on the open market, some team should roll the dice on the free agent. There aren’t enough good wide receivers to go around, and the following four teams could take a risk on Cooper bouncing back now that he’s fully recovered from his wrist injury.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots will be better in 2025 now that they’ve replaced Jerod Mayo with Mike Vrabel and spent big on the defensive side of the ball. However, they haven’t done nearly enough to support franchise quarterback Drake Maye. While right tackle Morgan Moses will solidify a position of need, New England needs at least three more starters on the offensive line and two more competent wide receivers. Amari Cooper might not be the safest bet due to his disappointing 2025, but the free agent has the potential to be the best wide receiver on this roster.

Best Available Cornerback Free Agent May Have Suitors Soon – 5 Possible Fits https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/03/14/best-available-cornerback-free-agent-rasul-douglas-may-have-suitors-soon-5-possible-fits/ https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/03/14/best-available-cornerback-free-agent-rasul-douglas-may-have-suitors-soon-5-possible-fits/#respond Sat, 15 Mar 2025 00:24:24 +0000 https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/?p=222792 The NFL Free Agency is far from over as the Buffalo Bills free agent cornerback Rasul Douglas is still available on the market. According to a source, Douglas is still one of the top cornerbacks in the market and he could be an excellent fit for teams that love to play zone. Originally selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the former West Virginia product came into the league with the Philadelphia Eagles showing promise as a versatile secondary man but never got the chance to start. Douglas spent some time on three different practice squads during the 2021 season and the cornerback was finally showing signs of life with the Green Bay Packers.

The cornerback recorded a league-best two interception returns for scores that season. However, the veteran wasn't able to stay healthy despite recording 69 solo tackles, 13 pass deflections, four interceptions, one fumble and one sack in 17 games with 12 starts the following season. Douglas is not the best cornerback in the league but he has a lot of gas in the tank to be a capable disruptor in the aerial attack. He won't earn a long-term contract with the next team but at best, he's going to have to earn his stride on a "prove it" deal.

Best Available Cornerback Free Agent Rasul Douglas May Have Suitors Soon - 5 Possible Fits

Potential Destinations

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens have made some moves in their pass-catching unit after signing DeAndre Hopkins but they have work to do in their secondary department. The team lost cornerback Brandon Stephens since he didn't make much of an impact with them and the same for safety Marcus Williams. Marlon Humphrey is on lock but as he's aging, the Ravens could use another veteran to help. Douglas won't start but he could be an effective rotating cornerback while Nate Wiggins is still adjusting to the league.

New Orleans Saints

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Saints have done their homework for the safety unit after signing Justin Reid and restructuring veteran Tyrann Mathieu's contract. Despite their cap space, they need a capable cornerback even on a one-year deal to help Kool-Aid McKinstry. The Saints are bringing back Isaac Yiadom but he's more of a special teams guy. Douglas could be a Marshon Lattimore 2.0 of his own and could fit into this secondary system easily to give it a boost.

Dallas Cowboys

For the Cowboys, they made some aggressive moves, especially losing Jourdan Lewis in free agency. They made up for it by trading for Kaiir Elam to give Trevon Diggs some much-needed depth. DaRon Bland should be explosive this season as long as he stays healthy. However, Douglas' presence could excel in this unit behind Bland and be a locker room leader.

Carolina Panthers

It's a new beginning for the Carolina Panthers as they're bringing back Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson on new contracts. However, it's never a bad idea to add depth since the secondary unit does lack experience. They were looking for that last offseason from Stephon Gilmore after a free-agent visit but failed to agree to a deal. Douglas may not be Gilmore but he could be a worthy investment for the Panthers pass defense.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs signed Kristian Fulton to give some depth behind Jaylen Watson. However, guys like Joshua Williams and Trent McDuffie could use the backup themselves. Last year, the team lost L'Jarius Sneed so they might as well stock up on cornerbacks.

According to a source, remains a top-five talent that the Chiefs have yet to re-sign but it looks like the chances of that happening are slim. Originally selected in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the former Texas product became a hidden gem for the Chiefs, recording 19.5 sacks, six fumbles and 101 total tackles through six seasons. Kansas City could try to sneak in a bargain deal but due to off-field issues in 2023 and injuries that kept him out of the contest for the majority of the 2024 campaign, the Chiefs might be better off without him.

Omenihu isn't the best pass rusher in the league but he's still a worthy rotational defensive lineman piece to get after the quarterback. His price tag might be too rich for the Chiefs and since they've already been signing players such as Jerry Tillery as depth in the defensive tackle unit, it seems like they're going the bargain route. To no surprise, the team did re-sign linebacker Nick Bolton and a few in-home free agents so they don't have a lot of spending money. Omenihu might benefit from earning a role with a new contender in the league and these five teams could award him the opportunity.

Chiefs Top NFL Free Agent Charles Omenihu Still Available - 5 Possible Next Teams

Possible Destinations

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens never found a true replacement for Jadeveon Clowney after losing him last offseason. Broderick Washington and Travis Jones are two promising but unproven defensive linemen who aren't up to Nnamdi Madubuike's standards. Omenihu could earn himself a starting role opposite of Roquan Smith to get after the quarterback.

Buffalo Bills

The NFL Free Agency is already off to one of the worst starts in the league. Both free agent signees Larry Ogunjobi and Michael Hoecht are going to miss the start of the regular season for six games due to PEDs. It's a huge hit to the defensive line despite signing a bruised Joey Bosa. Omenihu might not be a defensive tackle but he could be a dependable opposite defensive end to help get after the quarterback.

Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders lost probably a free-agent gem in Dante Fowler Jr. who is reuniting with the Dallas Cowboys. Linebacker Bobby Wagner is coming back but they need more defensive help other than Javon Kinlaw who's been a disaster for the 49ers the team is giving him a chance. Even though they've found Deatrich Wise, he isn't capable of full-time duties so the team is probably better off with Omenihu starting.

Los Angeles Chargers

After losing Joey Bosa, they need at least a capable edge even though Khalil Mack is returning. Poona Ford is probably their biggest loss this free agency but they got Teair Tart back. Omenihu could be a better athlete in Jim Harbaugh's run defense in the trenches to pair with Tart and get after the quarterback.

Carolina Panthers

Head Coach Dave Canales has done well signing Tershawn Wharton to help aid Derrick Brown's return. Despite missing out on Milton Williams, the Panthers are still in a good spot to turn around the defense. They could use Omenihu's presence opposite of Brown to give this team more of a force in the run defense.

Buffalo Bills 1st Round 2025 NFL Draft Targets After Free Agency https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/03/14/buffalo-bills-2025-nfl-draft-targets-free-agent-signings/ https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/03/14/buffalo-bills-2025-nfl-draft-targets-free-agent-signings/#respond Fri, 14 Mar 2025 19:25:16 +0000 https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/?p=222730 The Buffalo Bills' draft outlook became more clear after a wave of signings during the first week of NFL free agency. Five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Joey Bosa headlined the additions by filling the team's glaring need for an edge rusher.

Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane also landed wide receiver Josh Palmer, defensive end Michael Hoecht, defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi, safety Darrick Forrest, cornerback Dane Jackson, return specialist Laviska Shenault Jr. and running back Darrynton Evans during the initial free-agent frenzy.

Now the focus shifts to the draft to fill the remaining holes on the roster. The Bills likely need at least a few prospects to emerge as instant-impact contributors to chase down a Super Bowl title next season.

Bills Draft 2025: First-Round Prospect Targets

1. Defensive Tackle: Kenneth Grant (Michigan)

Grant's stock has steadily risen throughout the draft process. In turn, the Bills may need to trade up from their current No. 30 slot to get the Wolverines defensive tackle. He's the type of player who's worth the additional investment, though.

Buffalo desperately needs a space-eating, double-team-taking interior force next to the smaller, more agile Ed Oliver. DaQuan Jones filled to role well for a couple years, but his play dropped off significantly in 2024. Ogunjobi is more of a rotational piece at this point in his career.

https://twitter.com/alexbrasky/status/1894780958760468862

Meanwhile, Grant is a near-perfect fit. He's got the size (6'4'', 331 pounds) and power to create massive problems for opposing offensive lines. His presence alone would create far more one-on-one opportunities for Oliver.

Taking Grant would also give the Bills terrific depth at the position. He'd join Oliver in the starting lineup with Jones, Ogunjobi, and DeWayne Carter giving head coach Sean McDermott plenty of variety to stick with his preferred heavy line rotation.

2. Cornerback: Shavon Revel Jr. (East Carolina)

The Bills brought back Jackson, who spent four years with the organization before joining the Carolina Panthers last season. Jackson will probably be given a chance to compete for a starting role alongside rising star Christian Benford and slot sensation Taron Johnson in the secondary. It wouldn't prevent the team from drafting a corner early, though.

Revel was making a case as the draft class' top corner before suffering a torn ACL in September. He underwent surgery in October and his doctor, Daniel Cooper, wrote a letter to interested teams at the NFL Scouting Combine to confirm the corner should be ready for action by the summer.

https://twitter.com/tompelissero/status/1894053878255018122

The injury creates as opportunity for Buffalo. Revel would have likely been long gone before pick No. 30 if he stayed healthy. Now there's a good chance he'll be available at the end of Round 1.

In all likelihood, it'll take him some time to get back up to full speed. That makes the recent addition of Jackson more important. Yet, he still represents a terrific buy-low opportunity for the Bills, especially if Grant is off the board before they pick.

3. Safety: Nick Emmanwori (South Carolina)

Defensive tackle and cornerback are far and away the Bills' two biggest needs right now. Beyond that, it's a difficult call between safety and wide receiver. Buffalo's wideout need (a vertical deep threat) has a better chance to find a hit in the middle rounds, though.

Emmanwori, who like Grant could require a modest trade-up, is a better option than any receiver who may still be available late in the opening round. His senior season with the Gamecocks featured 88 total tackles, four interceptions, and two defensive touchdowns.

https://twitter.com/SleeperBills/status/1900578721049755905

The Bills' two starting safety spots are completely up for grabs. The North Carolina native, who ran a sub-4.4 40-yard dash, would likely join Taylor Rapp, Cole Bishop, Damar Hamlin, and Forrest in a wide-open competition in training camp.

It's possible the range of Emmanwori and the hard-hitting of Bishop could eventually give Buffalo the same type of safety production and stability that Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer did for so long. That's an intriguing possibility Given how much the team's safeties struggled in 2024.

Bills Roster: Buffalo’s Projected Lineup After Joey Bosa, Josh Palmer Signings https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/03/12/bills-roster-buffalo-starting-lineup-joey-bosa-josh-palmer-2025-nfl-free-agent-signings/ https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2025/03/12/bills-roster-buffalo-starting-lineup-joey-bosa-josh-palmer-2025-nfl-free-agent-signings/#respond Wed, 12 Mar 2025 19:00:53 +0000 https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/?p=222259 The Buffalo Bills have been one of the NFL's most active teams early in free agency. Most notably, the Bills filled their most pressing roster need (edge rusher) with the blockbuster signing of longtime Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa.

Bosa replaces Von Miller, who was released Sunday, as the Bills' veteran pass-rushing specialist. He'll see a familiar face in the locker room as wide receiver Josh Palmer, a fellow former Charger, is also making the move from the Pacific Coast to Western New York.

Here's a look at Buffalo's notable free-agent additions through early Wednesday:

Buffalo also re-signed several players: running back Ty Johnson, fullback Reggie Gilliam, safety Damar Hamlin and long snapper Reid Ferguson.

The Bills could still make a few more signings from the open market. None of them will likely be marquee arrivals, though. General manager Brandon Beane will probably fill most of the remaining holes on the roster through the draft.

Bills Roster: Starting Lineup Projections Before Draft

Bills Offense

Quarterback: Josh Allen

The NFL's reigning Most Valuable Player inked a six-year, $330 million contract extension Sunday that keeps him in Buffalo through 2030. He's in the conversation as the league's best player and his presence ensures the organization's championship window is wide open.

Running Back: James Cook

Cook is entering the final season of his rookie contract, but he's already laying the groundwork to seek a lucrative extension. Whether the Bills are willing to pay him his desired $15 million annually is unclear. For now, he's given no indication a holdout is on the table for 2025.

Wide Receiver (X): Josh Palmer

Palmer didn't post monster numbers in L.A., but his ability to create separation against man coverage caught Buffalo's attention. It's an area Buffalo struggled last season. He's a clear upgrade over Mack Hollins, who left to sign with the New England Patriots, in terms of pass-catching ability.

https://twitter.com/FantasyPtsData/status/1899192096889700845

Wide Receiver (Z): Keon Coleman

Coleman spent a lot more time in the Z alignment than the X in college. It was reversed during his rookie season, however, and that may have contributed to his lackluster performance. Moving into a more familiar role could help aid a breakout season.

Wide Receiver (Slot): Khalil Shakir

Buffalo doesn't have a true No. 1 receiver, but Shakir will likely remain Allen's go-to target in key situations. His ability to bounce off contact to create extra yards is extraordinary. The arrival of Palmer and potential improvement from Coleman could open up more space for him in the middle of the field.

Tight End: Dalton Kincaid

Simply put, Kincaid has been a disappointment. The Las Vegas native was expected to have a Travis Kelce or George Kittle type impact. Instead, he's recorded just 1,121 yards and four touchdowns since the Bills selected him in the first round of the 2023 draft. He must be better in 2025.

https://twitter.com/FantasyIndex/status/1892710083160592540

Left Tackle: Dion Dawkins

Dawkins is one of the most reliable blindside blockers in the NFL. He's also a key glue guy in the Bills' locker room. It makes him one of the team's most irreplaceable players.

Left Guard: David Edwards

Edwards endured an open-and-down 2024 season. He doesn't have any immediate competition for his starting spot, but that may change in the middle rounds of the 2025 draft.

Center: Connor McGovern

While McGovern handed his transition to center well, it's possible a return to guard could be in the cards if Edwards struggles. Former Georgia standout Sedrick Van Pran-Granger is a candidate to take over at center in the coming years.

Right Guard: O'Cyrus Torrence

The view of Torrence depends on perspective. Has he lived up to the expectations of a second-round pick? No. That said, he hasn't been a major weakness, either. The Bills will likely give him another full season as a starter with hope of seeing improvement.

Right Tackle: Spencer Brown

Buffalo took a risk when it signed Brown to a four-year, $72 million extension before last season. He'd endured some frustrating inconsistency throughout his first couple NFL campaigns. He took a major step forward in 2024, however, and is now locked in as a starter.

Bills Defense

Defensive End: Joey Bosa

A one-year contract is perfect for both Bosa and the Bills. The five-time Pro Bowl selection can attempt to prove he's worth one more long-term contract at age 30. The team can benefit from a motivated star as it tries to upgrade a pass rush that's went quiet far too often in recent years.

https://twitter.com/BUFSportsTalk/status/1899635160284315842

Defensive Tackle: Ed Oliver

Oliver is one of the NFL's most streaky players. He'll look like an All-Pro force for a couple games and then go invisible for the next few. That's unlikely to change, but getting him an interior partner who can soak up the double teams would help immensely.

Defensive Tackle: DaQuan Jones

Although Jones holds down this spot for now, that could certainly change. Ogunjobi and 2024 third-round pick DeWayne Carter are among the internal options. The Bills could also target a defensive tackle early in this year's draft.

Defensive End: Greg Rousseau

Rousseau looked ready for a breakthrough season after tallying three sacks in a Week 1 win over the Arizona Cardinals. He recorded just five sacks over his last 15 regular-season appearances, though. Having Bosa on the opposite side should help.

Linebacker: Matt Milano

Milano wasn't his usual sideline-to-sideline force after returning from a fractured leg and torn bicep. On the bright side, he finished the season healthy and should benefit from a normal offseason. A bounce-back year is definitely possible, which would be a huge boost to Buffalo's defense.

Linebacker: Terrel Bernard

The combination of Bernard and Milano should be one of the NFL's best linebacker duos if they can both stay on the field. Alas, Milano's injuries and Bernard being frequently banged up has limited their effectiveness. Dorian Williams doesn't have the same game-changing ability when one of them is sidelined.

https://twitter.com/BuffaloBills/status/1898016415652671689

Cornerback: Christian Benford

Benford has quietly emerged as a top-tier corner. His 82.6 overall grade from Pro Football Focus last season ranked fifth at the position. His ability to lock down an opponent's top target helped take pressure off a secondary that otherwise struggled in 2024.

Cornerback: Ja'Marcus Ingram

This is the Bills' most glaring need at the moment. Ingram played well in limited opportunities last year, but the coaching staff's decision to instead call on Kaiir Elam, who's now a trade candidate, after Benford got hurt in the playoffs obviously wasn't a glowing endorsement. Buffalo may try to fill this void in the first round of the draft.

Slot Corner: Taron Johnson

Johnson has established himself as a premier slot corner. He didn't quite play up to that high standard in 2024 because of arm, shoulder and neck injuries. The Bills will hope for a healthier 2025 for the Weber State product.

Safety: Cole Bishop

Bishop, a 2024 second-round selection, should enter the starting lineup after spending most of his rookie season as a reserve. He's a far better option than Hamlin, who re-signed but should slide into a reserve role due to his extremely limited athleticism.

Safety: Taylor Rapp

Having a boom-or-bust safety like Rapp opposite a first-time starter in Bishop would come with some obvious risk. Nevertheless, it's a duo that would give the secondary a lot more playmaking upside. Forrest has an outside chance to earn this spot.

Bills Special Teams

Kicker: Tyler Bass

Bass was on the verge of potentially getting released early last season. The powerful-legged kicker found his form just in time, though. His return to reliability was highlighted by a game-winning 61-yard field goal against the Miami Dolphins.

https://twitter.com/BuffaloBills/status/1853180991122096574

Punter: Jake Camarda

The Bills signed Camarda to a reserve/future contract in January. They proceeded to release Sam Martin, their punter since 2022. He signed with the Carolina Panthers in free agency. Buffalo may draft a punter in the late rounds to compete with Camarda.

Return Specialist: Brandon Codrington

Codrington handled this role well in 2024 and should retain it next season. The Bills would benefit if he could start showing progress as a corner at the same time.

Long Snapper: Reid Ferguson

Ferguson has provided Buffalo with stability at the niche position since 2016. His recent contract extension puts him on track to hold the spot through at least 2029.

The post Bills Roster: Buffalo’s Projected Lineup After Joey Bosa, Josh Palmer Signings appeared first on Last Word on Pro Football.

The Buffalo Bills have been one of the NFL’s most active teams early in free agency. Most notably, the Bills filled their most pressing roster need (edge rusher) with the blockbuster signing of longtime Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa.

Bosa replaces Von Miller, who was released Sunday, as the Bills’ veteran pass-rushing specialist. He’ll see a familiar face in the locker room as wide receiver Josh Palmer, a fellow former Charger, is also making the move from the Pacific Coast to Western New York.

Here’s a look at Buffalo’s notable free-agent additions through early Wednesday:

  • DE Joey Bosa: 1 year, $12.6 million (ESPN’s Adam Schefter)
  • WR Josh Palmer: 3 years, $36 million (ESPN’s Adam Schefter)
  • DT Larry Ogunjobi: 1 year, $8.3 million (NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport)
  • DE Michael Hoecht: 3 years, $24 million (NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport)
  • S Darrick Forrest: 1 year (NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe)
  • RB Darrynton Evans: Details not announced (Priority Sports agency)

Buffalo also re-signed several players: running back Ty Johnson, fullback Reggie Gilliam, safety Damar Hamlin and long snapper Reid Ferguson.

The Bills could still make a few more signings from the open market. None of them will likely be marquee arrivals, though. General manager Brandon Beane will probably fill most of the remaining holes on the roster through the draft.

Bills Roster: Starting Lineup Projections Before Draft

Bills Offense

Quarterback: Josh Allen

The NFL’s reigning Most Valuable Player inked a six-year, $330 million contract extension Sunday that keeps him in Buffalo through 2030. He’s in the conversation as the league’s best player and his presence ensures the organization’s championship window is wide open.

Running Back: James Cook

Cook is entering the final season of his rookie contract, but he’s already laying the groundwork to seek a lucrative extension. Whether the Bills are willing to pay him his desired $15 million annually is unclear. For now, he’s given no indication a holdout is on the table for 2025.

Wide Receiver (X): Josh Palmer

Palmer didn’t post monster numbers in L.A., but his ability to create separation against man coverage caught Buffalo’s attention. It’s an area Buffalo struggled last season. He’s a clear upgrade over Mack Hollins, who left to sign with the New England Patriots, in terms of pass-catching ability.

Buffalo doesn’t have a true No. 1 receiver, but Shakir will likely remain Allen’s go-to target in key situations.

Instead, he’s recorded just 1,121 yards and four touchdowns since the Bills selected him in the first round of the 2023 draft. He must be better in 2025.

Joey Bosa, Buffalo Bills, Agree to Contract

After battling injuries in 2022 and 2023, Joey Bosa stayed mostly healthy during his lone season with Jim Harbaugh's Chargers. Unfortunately, while he played in 14 games, he never quite looked like his old self. He made the Pro Bowl on name recognition alone, as he finished the season with an unremarkable five sack, 22 tackles, five tackles-for-loss, 13 quarterback hits, and a 61.1 PFF grade. Los Angeles released him following the season, saving over $25 million in cap space in the process.

Joey Bosa originally entered the league as a first-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Selected by the Los Angeles Chargers, the Ohio State product immediately played up to his elite draft capital. Appearing in 12 games while making 11 starts, the rookie finished his inaugural season with 10.5 sacks, 41 tackles, 17 tackles-for-loss, and 21 quarterback hits while winning Defensive Rookie of the Year honors.

Bosa built on his positive debut and became one of the league's top pass rushers in 2017. Starting in all 16 games, Bosa recorded 12.5 sacks, 70 tackles, 11 tackles-for-loss, 21 quarterback hits, and an elite 88.8 PFF grade while making the first Pro Bowl of his career. After injuries limited him to seven games in 2018, he returned to the field in 2019 and continued as one of the league's most consistent pass rushers.

The pass rusher made three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2019 to 2021, recording at least 7.5 sacks in each season while providing elite play against the run and the pass. Joey Bosa signed a contract extension before the 2020 season and justified that investment early on. However, years of injuries made him an easy cut candidate this year.

Since signing his rookie contract, Joey Bosa has recorded 72 sacks, 343 tackles, 87 tackles-for-loss, and 156 quarterback hits.
